About the Event
A spiritual practice can be an intensely powerful and affirming thing, but for many LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, it is instead a frustrating and alienating one. When religious institutions don’t want us and modern alternative spiritualities repeat the same tired gender essentialist norms, where do we turn for a vibrant and deeply felt spiritual practice that includes and celebrates us?
We do what queers have always done with community and culture: we build our own.
In this 2 hour hybrid workshop, we will . . .
Create an affirming, inspirational, and supportive devotional practice that uplifts us in our queer entirety
Connect to the divine queer in existing gods, goddesses, and goddexes of history, in our revered transcestors and ancestors of our queer lineage, and in ourselves
Queer the idea of deity by looking to figures of folklore, myth, and legend for creating new goddexes and new, queer parables
