Tarot for the Future: Magical Planning for the Year Ahead

As the new year approaches, join us to magically prepare for the year ahead through Tarot and ritual! We’ll reflect on what we’ve learned from 2020 and look forward to what 2021 has in store through the lens of the Emperor and the Hierophant, their respective year cards. Then each participant will use a guided Tarot spread to create a month-by-month energetic map of their personal year ahead. We’ll discuss the cards and how to work with their energy from a place of foresight and empowerment, and we’ll conclude with a suggested Tarot spread and ritual to use every month, with the purpose of cultivating self-trust and authority even in the hardest and most uncertain times. The goal of this workshop is to equip you with tools to meet the coming year in all of its challenges and triumphs from a place of wisdom, hope, and personal power!

In this workshop, you will learn:

-How to supportively work with year-ahead Tarot spreads (and how not to)

-The collective energy of 2021 through the Hierophant

-The energetic map of your year ahead, as gleaned through a Tarot spread you will pull during the workshop

-An overview of how to work with each of the Major Arcana cards in your spread

-A second tarot spread and ritual to use for consciously working with your month card as you move through 2021

-A simple solstice ritual for marking the year's turning

PLEASE BRING:

- A tarot deck, separated into two piles: Major Arcana and Minor Arcana

- A piece of notebook or computer paper, cut or torn into four slips

- A notebook and pen/pencil to take notes with

-An idea of what you’ve learned or how you’ve grown in 2020, and an idea of what you’re expecting or hoping for in 2021

-Before the workshop, please prepare your space in whatever way you prefer for conducting your year ahead reading during the workshop

Teacher Bio:

Charlie Claire Burgess (they/them) is a tarot reader, educator, artist, writer, and witch. They’re the creator of Fifth Spirit Tarot, a queer and inclusive deck for a world beyond binaries, and the host of The Word Witch Podcast, an intersectional and queer-centered broadcast about tarot, astrology, magic, and belief.
